John Stubbins
- Musician USA New York - 12/21/1884 E 416 89 Stubbins was a musician in Company F of the 8th United State Infantry Regiment. The 8th Infantry was created in 1838 and, after service in the Mexican and Civil Wars, the regiment was transferred to California in 1878. Parts of the 8th, including its headquarters, were stationed at Angel Island for periods of time during the 1880's. Stubbins' Company F was stationed on the island at the time of his death. As a company musician, Stubbins would have most likely played either the fife or drum that constituted a company's field music (as opposed to the brass wind instruments that made up the regimental band). |
