Mary Mullen
Dependent - - - 3/4/1881 E 409 78 Mary Mullen's presence in the cemetery is a testimony to the enlisted men who had families with them on military posts, despite the army's attempts to discourage them. Notes taken in the National Archives indicate that Mary's husband Owen was a member of the 12th U.S. Infantry. Created early in the Civil War, the 12th United States Infantry Regiment was sent to the West in 1869 and its companies were stationed off and on Angel Island during the 1870's and early 80's. |
