Mary Ann Ross
Ross, Mrs John Dependent - 3/17/1850 5/17/1902 E 366 121? In 1887 Mary Ann's husband, John Ross was posted to the fog-bell station at Point Knox on Angel Island after he lost a leg while serving aboard the old Revenue Cutter Shubrick off the coast of Oregon. The Rosses manned the bell, which was powered by a clockwork that had to be wound every two hours, and a light which was installed in 1900, until their deaths. John Ross (E364) was also interred on Angel Island. In April of 2004 the US Department of Veteran's Affairs Nationwide Gravesite Locator listed Mary Ann only as "Ross, Mrs John, wife of Ross, John." |
