Dependent - - 5/17/1877 E 317 70 Although the army tried to dissuade men with families from its ranks, some enlisted men did have wives and children with them, as was obviously the case with Private Bouffler. In April 2004 all the US Department of Veteran's Affairs Nationwide Gravesite Locator noted that James H was a minor child of "Boufler, J H." This spelling of the surname with only one 'f' raises the possibility that the child Boufler in grave E312 may be a relative of James H and Private J H. The U.S. Department of Veteran's Affairs Database, however, agrees with the headstone that James H is a "Bouffler" with two 'f's'. |
