George Fay
Fays, George Private USA - - 8/21/1867 E 296 19 Fay was a private in the 2nd United States Artillery Regiment. The 2nd Artillery was formed in 1821. Shortly after the Civil War the regiment was sent to California, and arrived in San Francisco in September of 1865, where its companies were sent to man the fortifications there. The 2nd Artillery's batteries were rotated around the west (including service in Alaska) until 1876 when it was recalled to Washington. Fay died while stationed on Alcatraz. |
